When we are in a heightened state of distress, it can be difficult to think rationally and decide how best to help ourselves. We can therefore resort to using self-destructive behaviours (which may help us in the short term, but can cause other problems in the long-term. It can be useful to know what you have in your tool kit, that you can turn to when you are not able to think rationally, so that when you feel overwhelmingly distressed, you can go to your tool kit and find something that will help you cope and/or feel better.

Download your tool kit worksheet, complete it and keep it somewhere safe for times where you may be feeling distress.
