Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an evidenced based talking therapy recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for many mental health problems.
Although CBT is not exclusive to mental health problems (sleep, stress, self esteem, pain and long term health conditions can also benefit from a CBT approach) the approach is rooted in decades of evidence to work with:
Depression
Social Anxiety
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Health Anxiety
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Panic Disorder (with or without Agoraphobia)
Phobias
It combines cognitive therapy (examining your thought processes) and behaviour therapy (examining the things you do) in order to understand how your current difficulties are maintained.
Coping strategies are introduced to help challenge any unhelpful thinking and maladaptive coping. Mindfulness based interventions are also used to help you achieve your goals and prevent relapse.
We aim to teach you to become your own therapist, so that you can keep using the strategies after you have finished therapy.
